Swat Valley v. Gaza. Pakistan v. Israel

We all remember the Israeli war on Gaza.
Without really going into debate about that war, I was wondering why the left is not rising up against the war in Swat Valley, when the former war drew so much ire from most of us.

With the most displaced people in recent history, an untold number of dead, villages reduced into rubble, and all for a turf war fought by our ally with tanks and helicopters, I am yet to see the outrage.

The same goes to the national and world media, the Gaza war was followed minute by minute with front pages day after day, while the Pakistani killings goes unnoticed by most in the media.

A Proportioned war

I keep reading that this Hamas-Israel war is diproportioned, as only 13 Israelis died (Ignoring the 400 who died in the past 8 years).
There are a few wars that liberals in general support, like WWII or more recently the Afghanistan war.

So during WWII, how many American civilians were killed by Nazi/Japanese, how many did we kill?

In Afghanistan, Al-Qaeda attacked us, yet we started a war with Afghanistan who never did anything to us, we killed 50,000 most of them civilians.

Where is the outrage?

Are we picking on Israel?

For more than 8 years now, Hamas has been targeting civilian Israelis, and most of us didn't even care that children in Israel have to sleep in bomb shelters nght after night, before, during & after the cease fire Israel observed with Hamas.

Additionally, I seldom see any post on MyDD or other liberal blogs over Darfur where blacks are being slaughtered by Arabs day after day, with the toll at almost half a million people.

And with all of us supporting the war with the Taliban (when they never attacked us, al-qaeda did) does any one of you care that 26,000+ civilians have died from that war?

One attack on America is enough for you to justify thousands of civilian deaths (we call it colleteral damage) I wonder what we will justify after 6000 rockets over 8 years with 15 civilian deaths since 2001.

How about 600 dead of whom just 30% are civilians?

How many of you have been angry over the "occupation" of Tibet and the scores of civilians killed there just last year?

How many of you have written angry posts over the Russian occupation of Chechnia and the Slaughtering of 150,000 civilians in the recent past?

We almost started WW3 when the Soviets just pointed missiles in our direction during the Cuban Missile crisis.

2 Polls: NY'ers strongly oppose Kennedy

A Quinnipiac college poll shows that 57% of New Yorkers oppose Kennedy for Senate (they pick someone else) with just 33% in favor.

A Sienna college poll has her with just 23%, Cuomo 26% and the other candidates with 28%.

It shows that the anti-Kennedy movement is not just here on the liberal blogosphere.

Nate @ 538: Coleman to win Recount by 270, lose election by 27

There seems to be much confusion going around about the spread of votes from Coleman and Franken in Minnesota, with the former ahead by almost 200 votes currently.

Many people are quoting Nate Silver's piece on FiveThirtyEight.com predicting Franken should win by 27 votes.

Most people don't bother reading thru his article, instead they claim he doesn't know what he is talking about as Coleman's numbers keep going up.

But if you read his article, you will see that, while he doesnt mention it, according to his number crunching, Coleman will probably be ahead by close to 300 votes at the end of the recount but BEFORE the canvassing board takes up this matter, at which time Franken should prevail.

Lieberman, are we out for revenge?

Browsing the liberal blogosphere, it seems to me that the Netroots are out in full force to punish Lieberman.

I personally don't believe in revenge by, or in, government.

It's now more likely than not that we retain 59 Senate seats, and there is still a possibility to reach 60.

Why should we throw someone out of the Dem caucus, when we can use him to further Obama's agenda.

Will this "punish Lieberman" thing sound to the public counter to Obama's post partisan future?

"She kissed me for being an American"

A must read article from an AP writer.
How Americans all over the world no longer have to hide their identity.

"I was on the phone, and the 20-something Austrian woman seated in front of me overheard me speaking English.

Without a word, she turned, pecked me on the cheek and stepped off at the next stop."

Angry Right at NV rally (OMG I fear these people)

A must see video from the Las Vegas Sun on the angry, racist people at a McCain rally.

This is just one of many.
I personally fear these people, this may lead to a new generation of Timothy McVeigh's
